Positive You Journal: CBT-Based Journalling in the Wisdom App

Wisdom App Journal

When pressure builds, it's easy to focus on what's going wrong. Deadlines, conflict, health worries and constant change can cloud our progress and perspective. Over time, this negativity bias doesn't just affect our mood. It can increase stress, reduce resilience, and raise the risk of absence and burnout.

That's why we've introduced the Positive You Journal, a feature in the Wisdom app designed to help people notice, reflect on and reinforce what's going well, even on demanding days.

Grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques, the Positive You Journal supports healthier thinking patterns, positive habit-building and long-term emotional resilience.

The Positive You Journal explained

The Positive You Journal is a simple, guided journalling feature inside the Wisdom app.

Each day, people can:

  • Log something positive that happened, big or small

  • Choose how it made them feel, linking the experience to one or more emotions

  • Edit and add to their entry at any time, adding new moments from that day whenever they like

Over time, entries are shown in a calendar view, so people can clearly see how often they're taking a moment for positive reflection. This visual reminder helps turn daily reflection into a positive habit.

Entries are private and confidential.

How to use the Positive You Journal

Getting started takes less than a minute:

1.Open the Wisdom app, and log in with your organisation's details.

  1. Go to the Positive You Journal.

  2. Log a positive moment from your day. A few words is enough.

  3. Choose how it made you feel.

  4. Come back whenever you like to add more moments, and watch your calendar fill up.

A clinically grounded tool for healthier habits

The Positive You Journal is intentionally designed to feel achievable, even on difficult days.

People don't need to write paragraphs. A few words is more than enough. Over time, that consistency can strengthen emotional awareness and reinforce healthier thinking patterns, without feeling overwhelming.

For organisations, this matters. Preventative, low-effort tools like this help empower your people to take their wellbeing into their own hands.

Why positive reflection matters

CBT shows us that thoughts, feelings and behaviours are closely connected. When people regularly notice positive moments, however small, it can help balance stress responses with evidence of progress, safety and capability.

Over time, positive reflection can help support:

  • Greater resilience

  • Better problem-solving

  • Greater engagement and motivation

  • Stronger coping skills under pressure

How employers can encourage their people to use it

The Positive You Journal works best when it becomes a regular habit. Employers can help by:

  1. Mentioning it in wellbeing communications and team meetings

  2. Encouraging managers to share it as a simple tool for stressful periods

  3. Including it in wellbeing campaigns, for example around Mental Health Awareness Week
