The pressures facing large employers

Large, dispersed workforces face pressures that a standard Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) was never designed to solve on its own.

  • Burnout and resilience

More than two in five workers feel mentally drained most of the time.

  • Speaking up is still stigmatised

Nearly half of men in their late twenties and thirties are uncomfortable talking to their manager about mental health.

  • Support needs vary per UK region

Our research found the regions under most pressure tend to have the least support.

  • Meeting neurodiverse needs

Employees increasingly expect informed support and reasonable adjustments, and managers need the confidence to provide them.

  • Menopause

The right support helps businesses stay compliant, and experienced people stay well and in work.

  • Sickness absence - early support matters more than ever

Changes to Statutory Sick Pay under the Employment Rights Act mean absence costs employers more from the first day.

Britain's workforce is coping, but has very little in reserve

Our Mental Wealth Index 2026 measures how full-time workers are doing across mind, body, work and money, and whether they know where to turn for help. It doesn't show a workforce in crisis. It shows one with very little room to spare.

The problem isn't that help doesn't exist. It's that too few people know it's there, and it rarely reaches them before pressure becomes a crisis.

  • 38%Sit on the anxious end of the scale
  • 48%Sleep six hours a night or less
  • 47.5%Know they can access support at work
  • 18.5%Have ever actually used it

Support that reaches people earlier

Frequently asked questions

Many organisations find their EAP is available but not well used. In fact, our research found fewer than one in five employees have ever used workplace support. We focus on reach and prevention as well as crisis support, provide a dedicated Relationship Manager and reporting that shows how our service is being used by your people and where the gaps are. A Corporate Wellbeing Review is a simple way to compare your current provision.
An employee assistance programme (EAP) gives employees confidential 24/7 access to counselling and practical advice. Our corporate wellbeing support includes that, plus impactful absence prevention such as Virtual GP, Occupational Health, specialist therapies, manager support and e-learning through The Wisdom Academy, all joined up in one service.
Your Relationship Manager works with you on a launch and engagement plan including communications, manager briefings and campaigns. We then use your reporting to see which groups or sites are under-using support and adjust the plan.
You'll receive regular management information covering usage, top-line reasons people get in touch (while ensuring employee confidentiality), outcomes and trends, broken down by site or population where numbers allow. All reporting is anonymised so individuals can't be identified.
